Introduced to the market last year, the new Cadillac XT6 offers its owners a luxurious ride, a host of technologies and a variety of trim levels and models. It compares in size to the Lexus RX, but it offers a slightly more balanced drive and offers more for less.

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is new to a segment where consumers typically seek the most modern offering. It’s normal after all. When we look for a luxury SUV, we don't want to compromise, and the XT6 really doesn't demand compromise. The Lexus RX has a lot to offer, too, but it can't compete with the XT6 under the hood or in the cabin.

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 is powered as standard by a 3.6-litre V6 engine developing 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This engine offers superior performance and more power as standard than any other engine, including the Lexus RX. The latter is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 295 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque which, while powerful, does not offer the same level of acceleration or performance as the Cadillac XT6's V6 engine.

The 2020 Cadillac XT6 comes standard with space for 7 passengers and was built from the ground up to accommodate everyone in comfort. The Lexus RX was originally built to accommodate just 5 passengers and the optional 7-seat version offers less space than the Cadillac XT6.

The XT6 offers 356 litres of cargo space as standard even with all seats in place, while the 7-passenger RX L offers just over 200 litres. You quickly see that the Cadillac is first and foremost a 7-passenger SUV and it delivers if you're looking for space. The 2020 XT6 offers over 2,200 litres in total in the trunk compared to 1,594 litres of space in the Lexus RX L.

The 2026 Cadillac XT5 and CT5 are built for exactly those buyers: two gas-powered vehicles at the top of their respective classes, with the proven refinement,...

Compact vs. Mid-Size: Comparing the 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ and LYRIQ for Everyday Family Driving

Two Cadillac electric SUVs. Different sizes, different strengths, and a price gap wide enough to matter. For a small family doing most of their driving in and around the city, the choice between the 2026 OPTIQ and the 2026 LYRIQ comes down to a few specific questions: How much cargo space do you actually need? Does the interior footprint matter for rear passengers? And does the larger model's...

2026 Escalade IQ Battery and Range Guide: Getting 748 km of Luxury Without the Fuel Bill

The 2026 Cadillac ESCALADE IQ carries a battery pack that, by most measures, is unlike anything else in the full-size SUV segment. With over 200 kWh of usable energy, it offers a Cadillac-estimated 748 km of range on a full charge. That number matters for a specific reason: it addresses one of the most common questions about large luxury EVs, which is whether they can cover serious distance...
